Published on 2015-05-23 by Apress

E-book Library:"Computers"

Enterprise Cybersecurity empowers organizations of all sizes to defend themselves with next-generation cybersecurity programs against the escalating threat of modern targeted cyberattacks. This book presents a comprehensive framework for managing all aspects of an enterprise cybersecurity program. It enables an enterprise to architect, design, implement, and operate a coherent cybersecurity program that is seamlessly coordinated with policy, programmatics, IT life cycle, and assessment. Fail-safe cyberdefense is a pipe dream. Given sufficient time, an intelligent attacker can eventually defeat defensive measures protecting an enterprise’s computer systems and IT networks. To prevail, an enterprise cybersecurity program must manage risk by detecting attacks early enough and delaying them long enough that the defenders have time to respond effectively. Enterprise Cybersecurity shows players at all levels of responsibility how to unify their organization’s people, budgets, technologies, and processes into a cost-efficient cybersecurity program capable of countering advanced cyberattacks and containing damage in the event of a breach. The authors of Enterprise Cybersecurity explain at both strategic and tactical levels how to accomplish the mission of leading, designing, deploying, operating, managing, and supporting cybersecurity capabilities in an enterprise environment. The authors are recognized experts and thought leaders in this rapidly evolving field, drawing on decades of collective experience in cybersecurity and IT. In capacities ranging from executive strategist to systems architect to cybercombatant, Scott E. Donaldson, Stanley G. Siegel, Chris K. Williams, and Abdul Aslam have fought on the front lines of cybersecurity against advanced persistent threats to government, military, and business entities.

Hug Your Haters

Hug Your Haters
By:"Jay Baer"
Published on 2016-03-01 by Penguin

E-book Library:"Business & Economics"

Haters are not your problem. . . . Ignoring them is. Eighty percent of companies say they deliver outstanding customer service, but only 8 percent of their customers agree. This book will help you close that gap by reconfiguring your customer service to deliver knockout experiences. The near-universal adoption of smartphones and social media has fundamentally altered the science of complaints. Critics (“haters”) can now express their displeasure faster and more publicly than ever. These trends have resulted in an overall increase in complaints and a belief by many businesses that they have to “pick their spots” when choosing to answer criticisms. Bestselling author Jay Baer shows why that approach is a major mistake. Based on an extensive proprietary study of how, where, and why we complain, Hug Your Haters proves that there are two types of complainers, each with very different motivations: ·Offstage haters. These people simply want solutions to their problems. They complain via legacy channels where the likelihood of a response is highest—phone, e-mail, and company websites. Offstage haters don’t care if anyone else finds out, as long as they get answers. ·Onstage haters. These people are often disappointed by a substandard interaction via traditional channels, so they turn to indirect venues, such as social media, online review sites, and discussion boards. Onstage haters want more than solutions—they want an audience to share their righteous indignation. Hug Your Haters shows exactly how to deal with both groups, drawing on meticulously researched case studies from businesses of all types and sizes from around the world. It includes specific playbooks and formulas as well as a fold-out poster of “the Hatrix,” which summarizes the best strategies for different situations. The book is also filled with poignant and hilarious examples of haters gone wild, and companies gone crazy, as well as inspirational stories of companies responding with speed, compassion, and humanity. Whether you work for a mom-and-pop store or a global brand, you will have haters—and you can’t afford to ignore them. Baer’s insights and tactics will teach you how to embrace complaints, put haters to work for you, and turn bad news into good outcomes. From the Hardcover edition.

Productive, Unproductive and Destructive Entrepreneurship
By:"Arnis Sauka"
Published on 2008 by Peter Lang

E-book Library:"Business & Economics"

Drawing on Baumol's concepts of productive, unproductive and destructive entrepreneurship and relevant amendments, this book develops a conceptual framework which allows operationalising the concepts for empirical assessment. Using data from a longitudinal survey, the author further makes one of the first attempts to address these concepts empirically. The results show the importance of shifting the focus from firms' activities to output on both, venture and societal levels, short and long term. Overall, the findings suggest that productive entrepreneurs are less involved in behaviour such as tax avoidance or illegal business and show a higher level of entrepreneurial orientation.

Building Businesses with Small Producers

Building Businesses with Small Producers
By:"International Development Research Centre (Canada)"
Published on 2002 by IDRC

E-book Library:"Developing countries"

Building Businesses with Small Producers presents the findings and a comparative analysis of seven case studies that challenge current beliefs about good practice in the provision of business development services (BDS) to small and microenterprises. The book also highlights issues concerning the assessment of impact, sustainability and cost-effectiveness of such services. Each case study - from Bolivia, Bangladesh, El Salvador, Ghana, Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe - shows how small producers were introduced to new production and marketing systems and how private sector participation was successfully promoted. The analysis of these experiences looks at the feasibility of market-based BDS provision and the role of non-governmental organizations in building BDS markets. The analysis presented here reminds us that, to provide effective assistance to small producers, business development services often need to be provided in a multi-faceted and flexible manner.

Whether you are handicapped by insufficient finances or have adequate start-up capital for your business, the same level of discipline and knowledge will be necessary. I am very much aware of the volumes of books that have been written on the subject of Small Business Development and Management. However, I made the conscious decision to take a different approach and share my personal experiences, highlighting the many obstacles I encountered along the way in my more that 50 years of active involvement in the private sector in the Caribbean. The path to achieving success in business begins with a mindset based upon information and education about the implications of business and a passion to succeed. In this age of information technology, there is no lack of information on how to develop a business and take it through its stages to being a successful business is well documented. There is absolutely no room in today's world for trial and error. My objective in this book is to present to my readers a holistic approach to developing and maintaining a successful business. The information provided herein is not limited only to my personal successes but also my several failures along the way. I wish to address specifically the operations of the MICRO, SMALL and MEDIUM ENTERPRISES (MSMEs) within the private sector which accounts for as much as eighty five (85) percent of the workforce in some countries. The private sector is referred to as the engine of growth but the MSMEs are the engine of Employment. Many governments fail to give the level of support to this vitally important segment of the economy. I invite you to journey with me as we navigate a path towards understanding the peculiarities, intricacies and technicalities of the operations of MSMEs in general but the Caribbean in particular. In spite cultures may differ, Business speaks an international language whether you are in an under developed, less developed or developed country. I am delighted to share my experiences with you and it is my fervent wish that you will take action on whatever ideas that resonate with you - Enjoy!
